Selecting Work for the Gallery

We are looking for quality visual art or writing submissions that demonstrate excellence in a given genre. The gallery is intended to showcase work that is inventive, inspired and technically competent. We are accepting work from Kindergarten to Secondary V, as well as submissions from teachers.

Cycle teams, or subject department teams, in each school are encouraged to meet and decide which pieces will be sent according to cycle.

Although there is no limit to the number of submissions per school, the gallery is not intended for entire class projects. Rather, the intention is to feature those couple artworks in the class that were particularly well realized.

Acceptable Content

Cycle teams must exercise professional judgement in choosing pieces that are suitable for all students, keeping in mind that the site is accessed by young children, parents, and the general public. Please ensure that there is no copyright infringement or plagiarism. Please avoid sending photos of large mural projects. They do not photograph well.

Submitting to the Gallery

Submissions can be made at any time during the school year.

Note : Submissions must be sent directly to hallera@cqsb.qc.ca

Each jpeg must be accompanied by a context blurb (see below).

Please use the sorting code to name your files (see below).

Gallery Awards

In June, a jury of visual artists from the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, and a jury of Quebec City writers will judge work from each grade. Winners will be announced on CBC Radio 1 and in the Quebec Chronicle Telegraph. Winners in the writing category will have an opportunity to read their work on CBC Radio, and winners in the visual arts categories will be featured in the Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph.
